فخامة رئيس الجمهورية في منزله في حلب ويطلب مني رقم هاتفك، هل أعطيه إياه أم لا؟

يروي الدكتور عبد السلام العجيلي حادثة جرت معه خلال توليه وزارة الإعلام في عهد الانفصال، فقد كان الدكتور ناظم القدسي رئيس الجمهورية وقتها، في حلب في سياق جولة في المحافظات السورية. وبينما كان الدكتور العجيلي بعد الغداء مستريحا في منزله الذي استأجره لإقامته في دمشق، بعد أن ترك الإقامة في الفندق، رنّ جرس الهاتف. وكانت عاملة المقسم العام في مؤسسة الهاتف هي المتكلمة. فخاطبت الدكتور العجيلي قائلة: فخامة رئيس الجمهورية في منزله في حلب ويطلب مني رقم هاتفك، هل أعطيه إياه أم لا؟ وكان رقم هاتف الدكتور العجيلي في دمشق مكتوما، بمعنى انه غير مسجل في دليل الهاتف ويمنع عمال المقاسم إعطاؤه لمن يطلبه. ورغم أن عاملة المقسم لم تكن تعرف العجيلي إلاّ أنها كانت تعرف أن نظم المؤسسة التي تعمل فيها تمنعها من تعريف أحد برقم هاتف طلب صاحبه أن يكون مكتوماً، فرفضت أن تعطيه لرئيس جمهورية بلادها نفسه، وكل مافعلته لإكرام هذا الرئيس كان استشارتها لصاحب الرقم في إعطائه إياه! ويعلق الدكتور العجيلي على تلك الحادثة بقوله: كان هذا تصرفا منها لم تجده هي في ذلك الوقت مستغرباً، ولا وجدته أنا مستغرباً، وأظن رئيس الجمهورية التي كان منتظراً في منزله في حلب ممسكاً بسماعة الهاتف في يده، لم يجده كذلك مستغرباً.. تصرف ما كان مستغربا في ذلك الحين حين وقوعه، أما بعد اثنين وعشرين عاما من وقوعه، حين رويته على الحضور الذين كانوا يملؤون قاعة المركز الثقافي بدمشق فأنه أثار الاستغراب والدهشة التي أطلقت الصفير من شفاه الكثيرين منهم. واذكر أني عندما أخبرت صديقي نجاة قصاب حسن بأني سألقي المحاضرة نفسها في حلب بعد إلقائي إياها في دمشق اذكر انه قال لي يومها: أرجوك، أحذف رواية واقعة تلفون رئيس الجمهورية من محاضرتك حين تلقيها؟
